Katherine Aguirre, MA, LPC

Professional Christian Counseling in Texas

I work with adults in individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling. I utilize Christian/Biblical counseling along with several counseling theories including Pia Mellody’s post induction therapy, cognitive/behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy. The areas of counseling I work with include addictions (alcohol, drugs, love/relationships), adult children of alcoholics, anxiety, boundaries, Christian counseling, codependence, depression, family of origin work, forgiveness, grief/loss, perfectionism, pre-marital/marital, relationships, singlehood, and trauma & abuse.

Family of origin work refers to the experiences you had from 0-18 years old growing up in your family. If those experiences were less than nurturing and included any kind of abuse, shaming, neglect, abandonment, or enmeshment, those original wounds can fuel addictions, relationship issues, and dysfunctional behaviors. In other words, they can cost us greatly in adulthood until they are healed.

For families, couples, siblings, friends, and others struggling with old hurts, I utilize the Confession & Forgiveness process used by the Center for Relational Care. For couples, I utilize a Gospel guided resource called "Catching Foxes" by John Henderson with both those preparing for marriage and those who have been married for years. For singles, I utilize a biblically guided resource called "Discovering Intimacy: Relating to God and Others as Single Adults" from the Great Commandment Ministry.

At your discretion, I will incorporate Scripture, prayer, inner healing, and encourage spiritual disciplines that grow your personal relationship with God.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1
